Build a great prompt

Fill in all 6 parts and your prompt builds as you type. Then copy it and paste it into Claude.

The prompts from the post, bad to great. Pick one to load it into the builder and swap in your own words.

How to use it anywhere

  • Write each part in your own words. A short sentence is enough.
  • Each box finishes the words above it ("Act as", "It's for"), so there's no need to type them.
  • Your example can be text, a link, or an image you attach in Claude.
  • Anything in [square brackets] is a spot to paste your own text before you send it.
  • Fill in all 6 parts each time. Each one tells Claude something it can't guess.
  • No builder handy? Copy this plain version into your notes:
Act as [a helper]. [What you want done].
It's for [who will read or use it].
[Paste anything Claude should work from]
[What's going on].
[Length], [format], [tone]. [Any rule, and why].
Here's one I like: [paste one, or a few].
End with [what the finished answer includes].

Where these tips come from

The 6 parts are my own grouping of Anthropic's official prompting advice, not an official list. "Act as" is a simple way to set a role; keep roles simple.
